Flamanville Generation

EDF

Hopscotch Event orchestrated this event in Cherbourg, at the Cité de la Mer, an iconic location in the region, to bring together all the Flamanville Generations. A unique event to gather and thank those who have contributed to the construction of the Flamanville EPR over the past 15 years.

Flamanville Generation represents 15 years of commitment, challenges, and successes, celebrated through an event that matches the scale of this exceptional human and industrial adventure.

A Transgenerational Gathering

This celebration brought together more than 1,000 guests at the Cherbourg site: EDF employees and contractors who participated in this human and industrial adventure. A significant moment to honor their commitment and work.

An Immersion into 15 Years of History

Hopscotch Event designed a timeless event, retracing the history and memories of this exceptional adventure. Transmission, sharing, and human connections are at the heart of this evening, designed to rekindle the collective memory and celebrate this remarkable community.

The event opened at the CGR cinema in Cherbourg with the screening of a 45-minute documentary, produced and edited by EDF. This film, retracing the 15 years of construction of the Flamanville EPR, highlighted the project’s key stages, the people who contributed to it, and the exceptional collective mobilization, all with a strong emotional charge.

An Immersive Exhibition to Trace 15 Years of History

The event was enhanced by an immersive exhibition that retraced the journey of Flamanville 3 through more than 80 panels, videos, and sound showers broadcasting anecdotes and testimonies from the teams. In six modules, it revisited the key moments of the project: from the initial foundations to the challenges of civil engineering, through the assembly of strategic components, the phase of crucial tests, and the commissioning of the reactor.

To evoke the world of construction and the technical feats achieved, the exhibition was designed on scaffolding, with modules several meters high, immersing visitors in the atmosphere of large-scale construction sites. A space dedicated to souvenir objects, featuring materials, outfits, and iconic tools, offered a concrete and authentic look at this industrial epic. A welding workshop also allowed visitors to immerse themselves in one of the essential skills of the project, by handling this technical and demanding art themselves.

A retrospective worthy of this human and technological adventure, designed to last, with installations intended to be reused and shared beyond the event.

An Event in Multiplex

Because Génération Flamanville transcends the boundaries of a single site, this evening was organized in multiplex with Lyon, Tours, and Montrouge, allowing all the teams who contributed to the project to share in this celebration together. Screens distributed throughout the large hall ensured real-time connection between the different regions, thus offering an immersive and unifying experience.

Interactivity was at the heart of the event with a mosaic of the Génération Flamanville logo, composed of photos of all the participants at each site, visually embodying the collective strength of the project. A social wall also allowed everyone to share their memories and emotions live, further strengthening the bond between all the generations gathered for this celebration.

A Festive Evening to Celebrate Génération Flamanville

After a day filled with emotions and memories, the guests extended the experience during the Club Génération Flamanville evening, a convivial moment designed to gather and celebrate this collective adventure. A cocktail dinner allowed participants to mingle in a warm atmosphere, highlighted by captivating performances: a live show featuring 9 musicians, illusionists mingling among the guests to surprise and amaze, as well as two photobooths to capture this unique evening.

The cocktail bar, specially designed for the event, added a festive and refined touch, while dynamic lighting transformed the venue throughout the evening. To beautifully conclude this celebration, a DJ set took over, inviting guests to continue the party on the dance floor. An evening reflecting the spirit of Génération Flamanville: lively, unifying, and unforgettable.

An impactful event, rooted in an eco-responsible approach.

From its inception, the event was designed to combine environmental commitment with social responsibility, aiming to minimize its ecological footprint while promoting sustainable practices.

Every detail was meticulously considered to limit the environmental impact of the celebration. Priority was given to renting furniture rather than purchasing, thereby reducing waste production and promoting the circular economy. The materials used for the scenography and signage were largely recyclable or sourced from sustainable resources, in a commitment to eco-design.

To support the regional economy and highlight local expertise, the majority of the service providers involved in the event were based in Normandy. From caterers to artisans, technicians, and equipment suppliers, all were selected for their commitment to responsible production. The choice of local and seasonal products also guided the creation of the cocktail dinner, showcasing the region’s gastronomic richness while limiting the carbon footprint associated with transportation.

Beyond the event, the immersive exhibition was designed with sustainability in mind. All installations, from explanatory panels to modular structures, were made with reusable materials, allowing for their transport and reuse at other EDF sites. This approach ensures a second life for the materials, thus reducing resource waste and offering a wider audience the opportunity to discover this industrial adventure.
